So, this would be the Elisabeth Wonder Team, before Elisabeth even was.



From the left, that's Suzukaze Mayo (current Toho Elisabeth), Asaji Saki (second Takarazuka Death), and my girl Ichiro Maki (first Takarazuka Death, first Toho Elisabeth, Death and Elisabeth during the Vienna 10th anniversary concert... I can go on like this for ages).

There's one more where Ichiro's patting Saki's cheek with an expression of "Look, Mariko-chan's all grown up!" ;) Judging by the photos, they invaded Saki's Bow Hall in 1990 to congratulate her on her first-ever lead role.

That's so sweet! Part of Saki's appeal for me is that she's just such a big teddy bear. (that and she's pretty awesome when you plaster her with white face paint and give her a blonde wig too but that's beside the point . . . )

She does look extremely cuddly :) I remember that derailed my Cinderella story for Yuletide so much - instead of shying away, Cinderella just wanted to give Saki!Fairy so much.

They're doing quite well at glomping each other ;) I never get over how tiny Maki looks even next to other Takarasiennes - she and Komu have that "seven foot tall personality" thing going for them!

For me, it's always hard to wrap my head around the idea that most of these girls are shorter than me. I mean, my 172 cm is slowly getting to be average height in Romania. But in Asia, it's bound to sprain a few necks. However, seeing the 'siennes on stage (even on a DVD), I always get the impression of tall, and the Deaths in particular. XD

Japanese girls aren't that short, they're mostly just tiny in circumference - I saw many girls my height there, and I've got 6cm on you :) There are even some Takarasiennes like that, and they've been getting taller - nowadays someone like Maki who's 164cm (and claimed 165cm while in the Revue) would have been shoved into the musumeyaku ranks. Add 7cm of heel to it...

(Though Elisabeth was a sight - Kacha's got an inch or two on both Asako and Kiriyan.)

Yeah, see? There's an increase in height there too. But someone my size would still be seen as strange. I suspect due to the added weight; there are times when I wish I had better genetics and had grown up in a place with healthier food habits. Oh well... *sigh*

Yeah I heard about that little bit of gossip... did they still have her on heels? Or was she pretty much flat-shoed under the huge skirts that hid everything?

There are heavier girls there, too, though less of them. I think part of it's social pressure, and part's healthy food - I lost about 3kg in 3 weeks there ^^;

She had tiny heels in the costumes that showed them, as I recall. I should rewatch the revue - the lift Asako does shows off all of Kacha's legs ;)

Yeah, well, I did my work last week. I just have to hand it in in about an hour and a half, which requires a trip to the office. But I'd be grateful to have the kind of work you have, trust me on it. *grumbles at crumbling economy and lack of proper jobs*

*snickers* I think I forgot to brag about a certain much-overdue thing online ;) Raise wasn't as much as it was in the non-crisis years, but the extra letters in front of my position's name carry a weight of their own.

You should definitely brag, since you've earned it. I certainly plan to do so once I have a real job and not this silly excuse of a part-time. My boss says that it could have turned into a full time job in a non-crisis year, but I'm happy to still have it. Some of my university colleagues can't find a job, and some of my high school friends got fired. Also, our government officially SUCKS.
