So, they finally revealed the costumes and some more of the casting. And dear me.

Sena looks like a gorgeous Death.

And a scary one too.

Kacha looks cute - she suits otokoyaku makeup better, but I love what they did with the eyes, and she looks like she's got a boatload of attitude.

Their attitudes in Wenn Ich Tanzen Will seem to be the correct ones.

I even like the idea of Kiriyan as Franz-Joseph. It's shaping up to be an interesting show.

*nodnod* Purple's my favourite Death colour, and the wig has the perfect waves - it looks soft enough to run your fingers through it :)

She's a baby otokoyaku, so I'm really curious at how she'll play the role - definitely stronger than the musumeyaku (except the last one, Shirahane Yuri), but at the same time with the vulnerability of youth. I like her attitude so far :)

So beautiful!

Alright, colour me oblivious since I don't know what the Elisabeth is about... Am I wrong in noting she's dressed like Empress Sissi?

Nope :) It's a musical about the life of Empress Elisabeth (Sisi) of Austria. It takes inspiration mostly from her poetry, creating a Death character who's in love with her, but whom she denies until almost the end - depending on the production he can be a personification of her madness, or an autonomous demon she's unlucky enough to disturb. My Elisabeth tag contains various fangirling of it.

It's originally an Austrian musical, but also insanely popular in Japan and Hungary; thus far I've seen it in Berlin and Budapest, and Takarazuka is next on the list.

As you can tell from the amount of icons I have, it's a good musical ;)

And as for soundtracks, highlight below....

Off the top of my head, there are some tracks in (mediocre) English here: hxxp://community.livejournal.com/foreignmusicals/146491.html

Flower Troupe Takarazuka soundtrack (featuring the Death from my post as the narrator, Lucheni): hxxp://www.megaupload.com/?d=6MSE3OC9

:> These are in order of appearance in the musical.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-D4OodCRHlk&feature=related <- Elisabeth and Death's first meeting (first Japanese version)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjralHFLKss&feature=related <- Elisabeth's defining song, in which she decides not to conform to the rules of the Viennese court (latest Japanese version)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LG46DjE4Mo <- Which doesn't make Death leave her alone. This song's after her baby daughter dies

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_cNQlUYBOo8 <- one of the wonderful ensemble scenes, in this case the narrator inciting the poor of Vienna to riot over a milk shortage (Hungarian production)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=As7yfhR1pGM <- Elisabeth and Death's defining duet, both of them proclaiming their independence (second mixed-gender Japanese production - the Elisabeth here was the Death from the first clip!)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfQ8-E5Jf14 <- Death promising his help to the Crown Prince Rudolf, in rather slashy ways (Vienna revival)

Asako looks lovely as Death and for some reason, I am excited for this production of "Elisabeth" though it has to take a while for me to get the DVD since not only I have so many of their "Elisabeth", I am leaning towards getting the recent Genji story she's done with a revue "Apasionado".

I heard a lot of good things about the Genji story :) I like Nihonmono, so I'll take a look at it, though there's also the DVD of the 1992 Yukigumi 47 Ronin story that probably takes priority for me.
